What is metal paint?
Metal paint is formulated for surfaces like steel or metal but can also be used on softer plastics. For metal surfaces, you can also use a multiprimer before applying a standard paint of the same base.
Metal paint can sometimes be applied directly to metal or iron surfaces.

Most metal paints can be applied directly onto metal or iron and offer rust resistance due to the inclusion of zinc phosphate. However, no paint (not even Hammerite) can be applied directly over rust without preparation. To better protect metal from rust, start with an iron primer or special anti-corrosion multiprimer. This provides the ideal base for applying any topcoat.

Before beginning, calculate how many square metres you need to paint by multiplying the length of the area by its width. On average, one litre of paint covers 10–12 square metres. Ensure you use a primer when painting bare wood or metal.
