Sikkens Rubbol Primer Extra is designed for exterior use. This primer has an extra gloss and is intended as an intermediate layer between your primer and final topcoat. It is a primer for a lacquer layer on wood, metal, and hard plastics. This product is a premium brand, ensuring absolute quality.
Sikkens Rubbol Primer Extra is an alkyd (white spirit)-based primer. This ensures better adhesion between your surface and the lacquer, resulting in a better-looking final finish. We can mix this primer in any possible colour. This primer serves as a base coat for wood, hard PVC, and other plastics (excluding polyolefins such as PE and PP), concrete, plaster, etc. It is also suitable for cleaned and sanded alkyd resin paint layers.

Sikkens Rubbol Primer Extra has excellent adhesion with Rubbol Primer and Sikkens white spirit-based lacquers, such as the Sikkens Rubbol XD series. This primer also has excellent flow and is scratch and wear-resistant, so you don’t have to worry about scratches on your painted surfaces. Rubbol Primer Extra is easy to clean with your usual household cleaning products. The ideal application temperature is 5-30 degrees Celsius, with a maximum humidity of 85%. Under ideal conditions (20 degrees), this primer is recoatable after 6 hours, allowing you to complete the job over the weekend. Another great advantage of this primer is that it is ready to use and does not need to be thinned. However, you may thin it with white spirit if you prefer.

When to use?
Sikkens Rubbol Primer Extra is the best primer for intermediate priming. Intermediate priming means adding an extra primer layer before applying the topcoat. Sikkens recommends this when repainting old paint layers with a Sikkens Rubbol topcoat. For bare wood, Sikkens also advises applying a layer of Sikkens Rubbol Primer Extra after the initial Sikkens Rubbol Primer.

What is the coverage per m²?
The coverage of Sikkens Rubbol Primer Extra is 12 to 16 m² per litre. However, our experience shows that most painters achieve a coverage of 10 to 12 m² per litre with Sikkens lacquer.
