A common myth is that paints or stains based on linseed oil are not re-coatable, but this isn’t an issue at all! Linseed oil often cures less thoroughly, making it extra good at expanding and contracting, which is a great advantage for old barns due to its flexibility. However, there are some disadvantages to linseed oil-based paints or stains. The product often dries slower, as is the case with Koopmans Perkoleum. It tends to remain tacky in warm weather. Koopmans Perkoleum Satin Gloss is less easy to apply in cold temperatures due to the drying and curing process. Koopmans Perkoleum Satin Gloss should not be applied when the ambient temperature is below 6 degrees Celsius.
