Topdeq Cronoleum
Topdeq Cronoleum is a black alkyd-based stain paint that beautifully enhances the wood grain. It is highly suitable for use on garden sheds, fences, and furniture. A major advantage of this stain is that it can be applied directly over creosote. We purchase Topdeq Cronoleum in large containers from the supplier, repackage it into smaller cans, and mix it in deep black or other colours as needed.
Pros and Cons
- Contains less solvent, making it more environmentally friendly
- Can be applied directly over creosote
- Moisture-regulating
- Since it is solvent-based, it will have a strong odour when used indoors initially
What is Topdeq Cronoleum used for?
Topdeq Cronoleum provides excellent protection in garden environments.
How many layers of Topdeq Cronoleum Black should I apply?
For untreated wood, we recommend applying 2 to 3 layers. For treated wood, 1 to 2 layers should suffice.
What is the coverage per m² for this product?
The coverage of Topdeq Cronoleum is 12 to 13 m² per litre. However, based on our experience, most painters achieve around 10 to 12 m² per litre with Topdeq Cronoleum Black. It’s better to have a little extra paint rather than run out.
What brush should I use for alkyd paint?
When applying alkyd paints and varnishes, it’s important to use the right brush. The right brush will ensure even application with optimal absorption and release. We recommend the VP Platina Mix Fibre Brush, which combines traditional pig bristles with selected synthetic fibres for superior results.
What roller should I use?
When using a roller, it’s important to achieve a smooth and even finish. No one wants to remove lint from their paintwork. Absorption and release are key. We recommend using the Copenhagen felt roller or the Anza felt roller for working with alkyd paints or varnishes.
More about this product
Topdeq is a relatively new brand introduced by a leading paint manufacturer. It is a brand with extensive knowledge and years of experience. Topdeq products are filled by Cronolin, a factory based in Genemuiden. Founded in 1987, Cronolin primarily caters to industrial and commercial markets, such as large steel companies or furniture manufacturers. Large 1000-litre vats of paint are often used in spray booths.
Over time, growing demand emerged from private markets, to which Cronolin had no suitable response. This led to the creation of the Topdeq brand, allowing Cronolin to serve private customers more effectively. Topdeq offers a range of easy-to-use products and is particularly recognised for its water-based stains. These stains were initially sold for commercial camping projects. Today, they are the most popular eco-friendly Topdeq product for garden sheds and fences.
