Which gloss level do you recommend?
For interior use, we recommend choosing satin paint, as it provides a neutral gloss where imperfections are less visible. Sikkens Rubbol Finura Satin is an excellent choice for interior paint.
A high gloss lacquer should have a gloss level of 60 to 90. A satin finish has a gloss level of 30 to 60, and matte paint should remain below 30. These values are measured by the manufacturer. In some cases, we recommend a satin lacquer. This is advised when the surface is not 100% smooth. Inexperienced DIYers also often choose satin lacquer, as it is easier to hide small imperfections in the surface.

Existing paintwork: If the existing paintwork is still in good condition, a primer is not necessary in most cases. Degreasing and light sanding are sufficient before finishing with one coat of Sikkens Rubbol Finura Satin.

Step-by-step guide
Step 1: Degrease the surface using B-Clean as the first step.
Step 2: Once everything is clean, we recommend lightly sanding the surface. Fill any imperfections or holes with filler (sand the filler again).
Step 3: Treat bare wood first with Sikkens Rubbol Primer. Existing paintwork can be directly finished after degreasing and sanding.
Step 4: Sikkens Rubbol Finura Satin can be applied in one coat. However, applying two coats will provide slightly more thickness and durability.
