VP Renovlies is a professional smooth wallpaper type weighing 150 grams. It is used to smooth and reinforce walls. A major advantage of Renovlies is that it conceals any fine cracks. This pre-treated Renovlies requires only one coat of wall paint for complete coverage. Our rolls are standard 1 metre wide and 50 metres long. We have recently improved its quality as of 20 April, offering rolls of 50m² instead of the previous 25m² rolls.
Where do I use VP Renovlies?
VP Renovlies is used to smooth walls and protect against fine cracks. It is commonly used in new-build projects since fine cracks often appear after a few years. By applying Renovlies, these cracks remain invisible, keeping the walls looking smooth and flawless.
What does pre-painted mean?
Pre-treated, pre-painted or pre-primed, in simple terms, means it has been pigmented. This process is carried out at the factory, saturating Renovlies with a coating that requires only one layer of wall paint instead of two. All our Renovlies products are pre-painted unless stated otherwise. Our clear advice is to always choose pre-painted Renovlies wallpaper.
Why should I always choose pre-treated wallpaper?
Without pre-painting, Renovlies is translucent, revealing all the wall repairs beneath. The main drawback is that you will need to apply two coats of wall paint, making it more time-consuming and requiring additional paint. Untreated Renovlies can often be found in DIY stores, but it ends up being a false economy due to the extra work and materials.
What is the usage per m²?
It’s always challenging to estimate usage accurately since customers need to measure everything themselves. We recommend accounting for 10-20% wastage. A professional installer can aim for under 10% wastage.
What surfaces can Renovlies adhere to?
Renovlies can be applied to any masonry-like surface, provided it is wallpaper-ready. It can even be applied to wood, as long as the walls are smooth. Ensure plastered walls or gypsum boards are treated with primer. Use a sponge test to confirm the need for primer – if the wall absorbs moisture, primer is required. For filling holes and cracks, we recommend Bolivia wall filler.
How much sealant is needed, and which should I use?
To properly finish Renovlies, sealant is required, especially for corners and edges near the ceiling, ensuring a neat finish. Seal the corners first, then apply wall paint so that the sealant blends seamlessly. However, sealant near the ceiling is left unpainted. On average, one cartridge of sealant is needed per 25m². We recommend using Seal-it 110 acrylic, which is flexible and accommodates shrinkage and expansion effortlessly.
When should I use primer?
If the walls are untreated, applying primer is highly advisable. Use the sponge test to confirm the necessity of primer. If the wall absorbs the water, you need to prime it first. Surfaces requiring primer include gypsum walls, freshly plastered walls, and gypsum blocks.
What weight do you recommend?
Renovlies comes in varying types and weights, and its weight is an essential factor. Lightweight options offer less protection, while heavier versions can be harder to apply. For new-build projects with wallpaper-ready walls, 150 grams is sufficient and the most popular choice. Its flexibility allows for easy application, and it effectively masks fine cracks while providing a smooth result. For projects such as schools or hospitals, we recommend higher weights such as 180 or 200 grams.
Pre-treatment advice
We recommend cleaning the surface before starting your project. Use a degreaser like St Marc to remove impurities for maximum adhesion, regardless of the surface material, be it concrete, wood, stone, or wallpaper.
Which wall paint works best with VP Renovlies?
We offer various products tested for optimal coverage on VP Renovlies. With the VP Renovlies finish and Relius R1 Pro, we guarantee complete coverage. Unlike other brands recommending two coats of paint, our products can achieve full coverage in one coat due to their superior quality.
What is VP Renovlies made of?
VP Renovlies consists mainly of cellulose paper and textile fibres, along with other materials that enhance its strength.
What’s the difference between VP Renovlies and fibreglass wallpaper?
The main difference lies in the material. Renovlies is composed of cellulose paper, while fibreglass wallpaper is made from glass fibres sourced from sand, making its production costlier. This is why Renovlies is more affordable. Both products yield the same smooth, seamless finish.
Which glue should I use, and how much?
Renovlies is best applied with Renovlies glue or fibreglass glue. Our ready-to-use adhesives are the perfect match. Each 10-litre bucket of adhesive covers 50m².
