Pros and Cons
- Impregnates the wood
- UV Protection
- Prevents greying
- Not suitable for indoor use
What is Koopmans Impregnation Oil UV used for?
Koopmans Impregnation Oil UV is ideal for untreated wood to protect it from sunlight. More and more, we see untreated pine with a matt black finish used in gardens. Both Douglas and pine wood need to be treated to prevent greying. Koopmans Impregnation Oil UV is perfect for this purpose.
What is the coverage per m² of this product?
The coverage of Koopmans paint is 12 to 16 m² per litre. However, in practice, painters tend to achieve coverage of around 10 to 12 m² per litre. It's always better to have a bit too much paint than not enough.
How many coats of oil should I apply?
We recommend applying 2 to 3 coats of Koopmans oil for optimal protection. This should be repeated every 2 to 3 years with just one additional coat.
What is wood greying?
Untreated wood exposed to strong sunlight will eventually turn grey, sometimes within just a few months. If you want to prevent your wood from greying, treat it with an oil or a clear stain.

Koopmans Paint History
P.K. Koopmans was established in 1885 in Ferwerd, a small Frisian village. Initially, the first products were produced in a residential home. The founder, Klaas Piet Koopmans, started what is now a large factory. Over the years, Koopmans has developed several products, with "Koopmans Perkoleum" being one of the most well-known. Today, Koopmans Paint operates from Marrum, where they produce Koopmans, Drenth, and Nelf products.
Which brush do I need for Koopmans Paint?
Oil is best applied with a block brush or a stain brush.
Which paint roller should I use?
Oil can be applied using a roller, though it is not the usual method as the oil is quite thin. If you opt for a roller, make sure to use a nylon roller.
