What types of Sikkens primers are there?
Sikkens offers two types of primers: water-based and solvent-based. For interior applications, we recommend water-based primers, while solvent-based primers are ideal for exterior use. You can apply solvent-based paint over water-based paint, but we do not recommend doing the reverse. Solvent-based primers repel water, which can cause adhesion issues. For Sikkens water-based primers, Verfmenger stocks two options: Sikkens Rubbol BL Primer and Sikkens Rubbol BL Rezisto Primer.
Sikkens also offers several solvent-based primers, such as Sikkens Rubbol Primer, Sikkens Rubbol Primer Extra (designed as an intermediate layer between primer and lacquer), Sikkens Rubbol Primer Express (ideal for use in low temperatures), and Sikkens Rubbol EPS (a combination primer and lacquer).
