Cabinet Paint

The best kitchen cabinet paint deals with us

The kitchen cabinet paints from our own brand VP (Verfmenger Prof) are relatively affordable compared to brands like Sikkens paint or Sigma paint. VP offers an excellent price-quality ratio as the lacquers are all wear- and scratch-resistant, with pricing at the lower end of the market. We collaborate with top manufacturers to create our own products. Since these are our own products, we can set the prices ourselves, making this professional brand affordable too. Additionally, you can find the best kitchen cabinet paint deals on our webshop every week. Are you looking for the best suitable lacquer for your kitchen cabinets? Then you should check out the Sikkens Rubbol BL Rezisto series, where you can choose the finish level.

Tip from Verfmenger

Unscrewing the kitchen cabinets makes the job much easier. This allows you to apply kitchen cabinet paint more effectively for even better results.

Painting kitchen cabinets

When painting kitchen cabinets, there are several key points to consider. Always clean and degrease the cabinets thoroughly using a strong degreaser, as kitchens are typically greasy, which doesn't pair well with your new kitchen cabinet paint! We recommend doing this twice as an extra tip. After degreasing, it’s best to use a multiprimer, as most kitchen cabinets have a plastic coating that standard paint or primer won’t adhere to. A multiprimer will always adhere and provides the perfect base for kitchen cabinet paint.

Did you know image

Did you know...

Did you know that kitchen cabinets should first be treated with a multiprimer? The major advantage is that it ensures perfect adhesion + the colour is already well-visible, meaning the top coat will cover in one go.

Paint for kitchen cabinets

Ultimately, paint for kitchen cabinets is a standard paint. However, it must meet certain criteria to be suitable for kitchen cabinets. The paint needs to be wear- and scratch-resistant! This is essential for the daily use of kitchen cabinets. We also recommend oil-resistance, so you don’t get unsightly marks where you frequently open the cabinet. Lastly, water-based paint is advisable for kitchen cabinets as it does not yellow over time and is odour-free.

Painting laminated kitchen cabinets

This is a common issue we encounter – kitchen cabinets with a plastic layer. These are referred to as laminated kitchen cabinets, and they can be painted with no problem. But how exactly? Laminated kitchen cabinets should first be primed using a special primer (multiprimer). This ensures the paint adheres well to the laminated surface, preventing the topcoat from peeling off later. Painting laminated kitchen cabinets isn’t difficult if you work with the right materials. Still stuck? Feel free to contact our customer service.

Painting MDF kitchen cabinets

Kitchen cupboards or cabinets made from MDF can be painted easily. However, you’ll need a special primer suitable for MDF, such as an MDF primer. Once the primer is applied, you can finish it with kitchen cabinet paint.

Painting kitchen cupboards

A kitchen cupboard or a cabinet differs primarily in size. Painting kitchen cupboards is done in the same way as smaller cabinets. We recommend using special kitchen cabinet paint with a multiprimer for the base layer.

Kitchen paint advantages

Here are some benefits of kitchen paint, laid out for you.
  • Wear- and scratch-resistant
  • Water-based
  • Available in any colour
  • Makes your kitchen look new

Kitchen paint key points

Choosing the right kitchen paint isn’t always easy. We’re happy to help you make the right decision.
  • Thorough degreasing is essential
  • Use the correct primer
  • Ensure the paint is wear-resistant
  • Ensure the paint resists oils from skin contact

Advice from the professional

There are a few crucial points to consider when applying kitchen paint. First, it’s essential to thoroughly degrease the surface. Afterwards, we recommend a multiprimer for optimal adhesion. It’s also wise to use water-based paint, which should be wear- and scratch-resistant as well as resistant to oils from skin contact.

What is kitchen cabinet paint?

Kitchen cabinet paint is a lacquer that must be wear- and scratch-resistant because kitchens are spaces that require frequent cleaning and maintenance. Naturally, you don’t want scratches on your kitchen cabinets. Wear- and scratch-resistant lacquer is well-suited for this, so keep this in mind. Kitchen cabinet paint is used to protect your cabinets or to give your kitchen a fresh new look.

Tip from Verfmenger

Measure how many square metres you need to paint beforehand. Calculate this by multiplying the length by the width of your surface. The average lacquer has a coverage of 10 to 12 m² per litre. With 1 litre of lacquer, you can paint at least 10 m². Always use a primer on bare wood.

What kinds of kitchen cabinet paint are there?

There are various types of kitchen cabinet lacquers. Most lacquers are water-based since the kitchen is indoors. However, there are also high-quality solvent-based lacquers suitable for indoor use. These lacquers contain an anti-yellowing agent. This means the colours of your lacquer won’t discolour. The Sikkens Rubbol Finura is a solvent-based lacquer but can also be used indoors due to its anti-yellowing properties.

Wear- and scratch-resistant lacquer: Planning to refresh your cabinets, flooring, or stairs? Then a wear- and scratch-resistant lacquer is required. This type of lacquer won’t wear out easily and prevents scratches from forming.

What brands of kitchen cabinet paint are available?

Sikkens: The Sikkens brand is well-known among painters for its high-quality lacquers. Sikkens also offers a range of wear- and scratch-resistant lacquers. The Sikkens Rubbol BL Rezisto series is ideal for indoor use, and you can choose your preferred level of gloss.

VP: VP stands for Verfmenger Prof, our own brand developed in collaboration with professional manufacturers. These VP lacquers are quality products, with all indoor lacquers being wear- and scratch-resistant. Our own brand is sold at a friendly price.

What kitchen cabinet paint colours can I order?

Kitchen cabinet paint is available from various manufacturers, allowing us to mix it in any colour you’d like.

Painting MDF kitchen cabinets, what lacquer do I need?

For painting your MDF kitchen cabinets, you’ll need a wear- and scratch-resistant lacquer. This is due to the frequent usage and cleaning required in kitchens. Naturally, you don’t want scratches to ruin the finish. Since kitchens are indoors, you’ll need either a water-based lacquer or a solvent-based lacquer with anti-yellowing properties to prevent colour discolouration.
