Did you know...
Did you know that solvent-based floor lacquer can yellow indoors? This occurs because alkyd is an ingredient in the product. Solvent-based (alkyd) floor lacquer requires sufficient light exposure. If applied in low-light spaces, the lacquer will eventually yellow. Therefore, we always recommend choosing an acrylic-based floor lacquer.
Matte or ultra-matte floor lacquer
Matte floor lacquer is the best-selling finish. While high gloss was the most popular 20 years ago, nowadays, customers prefer the matte look. There are even ultra-matte finishes available, offering a more muted look than standard matte lacquer.
Tip from Verfmenger
Apply floor lacquer with a nylon roller. A nylon roller ensures an even layer thickness. Applying floor lacquer too thickly can hinder proper curing. We advise applying 2-3 layers of floor lacquer with a nylon roller!
Trae Lyx floor lacquer is top quality
Trae Lyx floor lacquer is a top-quality product. Trae Lyx offers a range of options, including single-component and two-component floor lacquers. The Trae Lyx floor lacquer is beautifully matte and easy to apply.
Wooden floor lacquer
Planning to lacquer a wooden floor? You'll need professional-grade wooden floor lacquer. A good floor lacquer must be scratch and wear-resistant to avoid visible damage. Most of the time, we supply floor lacquer in matte or, occasionally, satin finishes. Nowadays, almost all floor lacquers are water-based, which means they dry quickly, allowing you to walk on the floor sooner.
What is floor lacquer?
Floor lacquer is a type of paint used to coat and protect wooden floors. For example, a wooden floor can be finished with a lacquer layer. For indoor use, you always apply water-based (acrylic) lacquer to floors.
Tip from Verfmenger
Before starting, measure the area you need to paint by multiplying the surface's length by its width. The average lacquer covers 10-12 square metres per litre. With one litre, you can cover at least 10 square metres. Always use a primer for unfinished wood.
What types of floor lacquer are there?
There are different types of floor lacquers. All indoor floor lacquers are water-based to prevent strong odours inside your home. The main distinction is between single-component and two-component lacquers. Two-component floor lacquers include a hardener that must be mixed thoroughly with the lacquer. This creates a chemical reaction that hardens the lacquer, preventing scratches on your floor.
Scratch and wear-resistant floor lacquer: Looking to refresh your floors and stairs? Scratch and wear-resistant lacquers are ideal. These coatings resist scratches and last for a long time.
