What is the coverage per m²?
The coverage of Sikkens lacquers is 12 to 16 m² per litre. However, our experience is slightly different, as most painters achieve a coverage of 10 to 12 m² per litre with Sikkens lacquer. It’s better to have a little too much paint than too little.

Which finish do you recommend?
Primer does not have a gloss level, but for lacquer, you can read our recommendations below. For exterior paint, high gloss is the most suitable option. High gloss paint has a longer lifespan. Its smooth surface prevents dirt from adhering easily to the paint, making it easier to clean. Gloss levels are always indicated by a number.
High gloss paint should have a gloss level of 60 to 90. A silk gloss finish has a gloss level of 30 to 60, and matte paint should remain below 30. These values are measured by the manufacturer. In certain cases, we recommend silk gloss paint. This is advised when the surface is not entirely perfect. Also, inexperienced DIYers opt for silk gloss, as it helps disguise small imperfections in your substrate.
