Sikkens wall paints are easy to clean with your usual cleaning products. The ideal application temperature is between 5-30 degrees Celsius, with a maximum humidity of 85%. Frequently Asked Questions About This Product
Which brush do I need?
For applying wall paint, it is important to choose the right brush. The right brush ensures the latex is applied evenly, with optimal absorption and release. We believe the VP synthetic all-round brush contains the right fibres for the best result. This brush is made up of different fibres, combining traditional pig bristles with a selection of synthetic fibres.
Which roller do I need?
When using a wall paint roller, it is desirable to create a smooth and even finish. You don’t want to be picking lint out of your paintwork. Absorption and release are essential here. We recommend using the Toptex wall paint roller for working with wall paint/latex. This roller performs best in our tests. Read more about which wall paint roller to use for your project.
When should I use this product?
Sikkens Alphadur is suitable for protecting your interior walls. Alphadur is an easy-to-apply product for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts. If you have newly plastered walls, we always recommend using a primer. This prevents the wall from absorbing too much paint and fills all small pores, ensuring your expensive wall paint is not absorbed into the walls.
What is the coverage per m²?
The coverage of Sikkens wall paints is 7 to 11 m² per litre. However, our experience with Alphadur is slightly different, as most painters achieve a coverage of 6 to 8 m² per litre with Sikkens Alphadur. It’s better to have a little too much paint than too little.

What makes this product special?
This wall paint from Sikkens has the unique feature of being suitable for both indoor and outdoor application. Additionally, this wall paint has a scrub class of 1, meaning that it won’t wear off quickly if you wipe it with a cloth. You can easily clean this paint without worry. Thanks to the high coverage, you can also achieve more square metres of coverage with Sikkens wall paint.
Do I need a primer?
Before treating your wall with paint/latex, it’s important to determine whether you need a primer. The good news is you can figure this out on your own by doing a quick test. Take a wet sponge and press it against the wall. If the wall absorbs the water, a primer is required. If the wall does not absorb moisture, no pre-treatment is necessary. For more tips and to learn how to determine this, read our blog about applying primer.
Are there alternatives?
Sikkens Alphatex IQ Matt: The Sikkens Alphatex IQ Matt is almost the same product, but it comes with a scrub class 1. The IQ also has a matte gloss. If this product appeals to you but you need better scrub resistance, then this alternative is ideal.
Relius R1 Pro: Looking for the perfect alternative? The Relius R1 Pro also offers scrub class 1 and coverage class 1. With the right pre-treatment, one coat will suffice to fully cover the wall. However, the R1 Pro is only suitable for indoor use and cannot be applied outdoors.
VP Extra Matt: This wall paint is our own brand, launched by us. You’ll notice this in the price. If you’re seeking a more affordable alternative that still provides the same quality and matte finish, this is the product for you.
