What can I use Koopmans Perkoleum Satin Gloss Transparent for?
Koopmans Perkoleum Satin Gloss Transparent is ideal for protecting garden houses and canopies. Perkoleum Transparent is durable, moisture-regulating, and water-repellent. Thanks to its transparency, the wood grain remains beautifully visible while giving the wood colour.
Koopmans Perkoleum Satin Gloss Transparent is linseed oil-based – what are the advantages and disadvantages?
Linseed oil has been used for decades as a raw material in paints and is now especially popular for being more environmentally friendly than traditional alkyd resins. A common myth is that linseed oil-based paints or stains are not re-coatable; however, this is not an issue! Linseed oil often cures less thoroughly, making it excellent for expanding and contracting, which benefits old barns thanks to its flexibility. However, there are a few downsides to linseed oil-based products. These stains often dry more slowly, as is the case with Koopmans Perkoleum Transparent. It may remain tacky in warm weather. Koopmans Perkoleum Satin Gloss is also less convenient to apply in cold temperatures due to its drying and curing process. Koopmans Perkoleum should not be applied when the ambient temperature is below 6 degrees Celsius.
What is the coverage per m² of this product?
The coverage of Koopmans Perkoleum Satin Gloss Transparent depends on the substrate. Since Koopmans Perkoleum Transparent is a one-pot system, a primer is not required. This means the first coat will use more product than the second. The average coverage is 10 to 12 m² per litre, but the manufacturer specifies 14 m² per litre. For bare and untreated wood, we recommend applying 3 to 4 layers, with the first layer diluted by 5 to 10% with white spirit.
