Sigma S2U Amarol Primer
Sigma S2U Amarol Primer is designed for exterior use. This is a primer for a paint layer on wood, metal, and hard plastics. This product is a premium brand, ensuring absolute quality. It is a reliable product for exterior use, based on alkyd resin. The product is known for being moisture-regulating, meaning the paint allows moisture from the substrate to breathe. A major advantage of Sigma S2U Amarol Primer is that it does not need to be primed before application. However, you should ensure everything is properly degreased first.
This product is ready to use and does not need to be thinned. However, you may thin the paint with white spirit if you prefer. If you want to buy Sigma S2U at the best online prices, check out the Sigma S2U offers, where you’ll find the best deals on Sigma S2U.

Frequently Asked Questions about this product
Which brush do I need?
For a seamless painting result, it is important to choose the right brush. The right brush ensures optimal absorption and release of the paint, allowing it to be applied evenly to the surface. The VP Gold Mix Fibre brush has all the properties you need for the ideal result. This brush contains the right fibres for the best finish. It is made from a selection of synthetic fibres and traditional pig bristles.
Which roller do I need?
The right paint roller ensures a smooth and even finish. The right roller prevents lint and other impurities in the paint. Absorption and release are essential for a seamless result. For this paint, we recommend using the Copenhagen Pro Lacquer Roller or the Anza Felt Roller.
When to use?
Sigma S2U Amarol Primer is suitable for protecting all exterior woodwork, such as doors and window frames. This primer is used to improve adhesion between your substrate and your paint. Using a primer will make your work last longer and give a neater finish. Sigma S2U Amarol Primer is an easy-to-apply product for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts.
Advantages of white spirit-based paint
For exterior work, alkyd paint is the ideal product. This paint is more resistant to weather conditions, giving it a longer lifespan compared to water-based products. Normally, alkyd paint yellows when used indoors. If you want to use alkyd paint indoors, make sure it contains an “anti-yellowing property” to prevent yellowing during indoor use.
What is the coverage per m²?
The coverage of Sigma paints is 12 to 16 m² per litre. However, our experience shows that most painters achieve a coverage of 10 to 12 m² per litre with Sigma paint. It’s better to have a little too much paint than too little.
In which colours can it be mixed?
We can mix any colour with our mixing system. To mix your desired colour, simply choose the colour in our colour selector or contact us. For mixing Sikkens paints and lacquers, we exclusively use the official Sikkens mixing machine, including the corresponding mixing pigments.

We can mix any desired colour for you.

RAL 9016 (Traffic White)
Common colours:
RAL 9005 (Jet Black)
RAL 7016 (Anthracite Grey)
RAL 7021 (Black Grey)
RAL 6009 (Pine Green or Monument Green)
RAL 3005 (Wine Red)
Which Gloss Level Do You Recommend?
There is no gloss level for a primer. However, for your lacquer, you can read our recommendations below. For exterior lacquer, high gloss is the most suitable. High gloss lacquer has a longer lifespan. The surface is smooth, which means less dirt adheres to the lacquer. Additionally, it is easier to clean. Gloss is always indicated with a number.
A high gloss lacquer should have a gloss level of 60 to 90. Satin gloss has a gloss level of 30 to 60, and matte paint should remain below 30. These values are measured by the manufacturer. In some cases, we recommend a satin gloss lacquer. This is advised when the surface is not 100% perfect. Inexperienced DIYers also choose satin gloss lacquer because it is easier to hide small imperfections in the surface.
High gloss (60-90): Ideal for exterior work
Satin gloss (30-60): Ideal for surfaces with imperfections
Matte paint (less than 30): Ideal for interior work
Which Lacquer Do I Need?
When choosing your lacquer, there are many options. As long as you stick to the same base, you can use any solvent-based lacquer over this primer. If you want the best results, we recommend staying with the same brand. For example, choose Sigma Contour Gloss. If you find high gloss too shiny, there are also satin gloss lacquers available on a solvent basis, such as Sigma Contour Satin. Unfortunately, a matte lacquer on a solvent basis does not exist. If you want a matte finish, you would need to switch to a water-based lacquer.
Are There Alternatives?
Sikkens Rubbol Primer Express: This is a similar type of primer, also solvent-based. This primer has the advantage of being quick-drying and can be applied at 0 degrees Celsius.
VP Platina Primer: This is a water-based primer from our own brand, which we have brought to the market ourselves. This is also reflected in the price. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative with the same qualities, this is the product for you.
