What type of brush do I need?

A good brush is essential for applying this product. A quality brush absorbs the paint deeply into its bristles, ensuring even application on the surface. The VP Gold Mix Brush features a blend of traditional pig hairs and synthetic fibres, ensuring smooth and even paint release on the surface.

Which roller do I need?

The Copenhagen Lacquer Roller or the Anza Felt Roller are recommended for this primer. Both rollers efficiently absorb and distribute paint evenly on the surface, leaving no lint or imperfections.

What is Avis?

AVIS has a long and rich history, dating back to 1701. Named after the Avis family from the Zaan region, it became one of several paint brands originating from this area, although many others have since disappeared. Avis began producing linseed oil from flaxseed in 1724 at the windmill “De Koperslager,” which was tragically destroyed by fire in 1964. By that time, production had moved to a modern factory in Westzaan in the late 19th century. During the early 20th century, Avis also opened facilities along Amsterdam’s Brouwersgracht.

When should I use this primer?

Avis Lead-Free Primer is ideal for priming all metal and ironwork for both indoor and outdoor use, including doors, stairs, and window frames. It is also suitable for priming challenging surfaces like metal and plastic, ensuring improved adhesion between the substrate and the paint. Using a primer significantly enhances the final result. Avis Lead-Free Primer is easy to handle, making it suitable for professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike.

Advantages of Alkyd Paint?

For outdoor projects, alkyd paint is the ideal choice. It has better resistance to weathering, ensuring a longer lifespan compared to water-based paint.

What is the coverage per m²?

Avis paints cover approximately 12 to 14 m² per litre. However, based on experience, many painters achieve coverage of 10 to 12 m² per litre. It's always better to have slightly more paint than to run out.

What is a primer?

(Iron) primer is a base coat primarily used for steel structures to prevent corrosion. It can also be applied to wood. The paint is based on alkyd resin combined with additives like iron oxide. Besides protecting against corrosion, it provides excellent surface sealing.

Which colours can be mixed?

We can mix any transparent colour using our advanced mixing system. Simply select your desired colour using our colour picker or contact us. We exclusively use official mixing machines and corresponding pigments for Avis paints and lacquers.

Which lacquer should I use?

We recommend choosing a lacquer from the same brand to guarantee compatibility between the primer and lacquer. Avis offers three types of lacquers, including Avis Pu Sealer. You can choose among high gloss, satin, and matte finishes.

Are there alternatives?
