What is Nordic Färg Stain used for?
Nordic Färg opaque stain is perfect for Swedish-style homes. It is also excellently suited for garden houses, fences, or verandas. This high-quality opaque stain can be mixed in any desired colour.
Is Nordic Färg more environmentally friendly than other products?
We can confidently say that Nordic Färg is better for the environment. Nordic Färg is entirely water-based, unlike traditional stains which are alkyd-based (solvent-thinned). Not only is Nordic Färg an environmentally responsible stain, but it is also highly durable, making it ideal for treating garden structures like sheds and fences.
How many layers of Nordic Färg transparent stain should I apply?
**Untreated Wood**: We always recommend applying two coats. A primer is not necessary, as Nordic Färg can be applied directly to bare wood, just like other Swedish stains.
**Treated Wood (same colour)**: If the old paint layer is still intact and you’re using the same colour, one coat of Nordic Färg is sufficient. Note that transparent stains are see-through, so the old paint layer will still be visible. It’s recommended to stick with the same transparent colour.
**Treated Wood (different colour)**: Again, transparent stains are see-through, and the old layer may show through. Using the same transparent colour is advisable.
**Weathered Old Wood**: For dry and porous wood, it’s wise to apply two coats. The first coat will penetrate deeply into the wood, acting as a primer. Remember, with transparent stain, the underlying layers may show, so it’s still recommended to stick with the same colour.
What colours can I order Nordic Färg in?
We can mix Nordic Färg in any imaginable colour using our Swedish mixing system. Of course, we can also easily mix other RAL or Flexa colours. We even match colours from DIY stores so that Nordic Färg can be applied to all your projects.
What is the coverage per m2 of this product?
The coverage of Nordic Färg is 12 to 14 m2 per litre. However, our experience suggests practical coverage is closer to 10 to 12 m2 per litre. It’s always better to have a little extra rather than running short.
What brush should I use to apply Nordic Färg?
The best way to apply Nordic Färg is with an acrylic brush. Nordic Färg is a high-quality product suitable for detailed work like frames and doors, as well as rougher tasks like garden houses and fences. For detailed areas, use a rounded brush; for larger surfaces, a flat acrylic brush is recommended.
What paint roller should I use for Nordic Färg?
Nordic Färg can also be applied with a roller. Since it’s a water-based product, we recommend using the Anza lacquer roller.

We call it a Swedish stain because we developed it in collaboration with a paint factory using a Swedish Scandinavian recipe. We brought samples of various Swedish and Norwegian stains to our lab for analysis, which eventually led us to create our own unique Nordic Färg formula.
