ClimateCoating Protect
ClimateCoating Protect is a water-based matte wall paint designed for outdoor use. This high-quality professional paint ensures that during winter, the cold stays outside while the warmth remains inside. During summer, Thermoshield reverses this effect, allowing for significant energy savings.
Pros and Cons
- Highly elastic
- Matte finish
- Ceramic filter
- May require multiple coats
What is the coverage per m² of this product?
The coverage of ClimateCoating is 7 to 8 m² per litre. Based on our experience, most painters achieve a coverage of around 7 to 8 m² per litre. It’s better to have a little too much than to run short.
What colours can this product be mixed in?
We can mix any desired colour using our tinting system. Choose from all RAL colours, such as RAL 9010, RAL 7016, RAL 9001, RAL 7021, RAL 9005, RAL 6009, and RAL 1013. A common question is the difference between RAL 9001 and RAL 9010, which you can read about in our blog. Our online colour palette offers a variety of popular and lesser-known colours, including all major brands such as Flexa, Histor, Farrow & Ball, and more. To create your desired colour, simply select it from our colour-picker or contact us directly.
What makes Thermoshield Protect ideal for ceilings?
We recommend using wall paint specifically designed for ceilings. Regular wall paints may lack certain necessary qualities. Key characteristics include high opacity (class 1, to minimise streaks and patchiness) and smooth, even drying. Fast-drying paints with high chalk content tend to leave streaks or marks visible when viewed in direct light. Slow-drying paints can prevent this issue altogether.
What surfaces is this product suitable for?
This wall paint works on various surfaces. Always use a primer for absorbent surfaces. Suitable for the following:
- Concrete
- Plaster
- Plasterboard
- Brick
- Renovlies wallpaper
- Fibreglass wallpaper
- Masonry
- Interior walls
- Exterior walls.
Surface Preparation
Before starting, we recommend cleaning the surface with a cleaner such as St Marc degreaser. This ensures better adhesion, regardless of whether the surface is concrete, wood, brick, or wallpaper.
Do I need primer?
Before applying wall paint or latex, it’s essential to check if you need a primer. Test by pressing a wet sponge against the wall. If it absorbs water, a primer is needed. If it doesn’t, you can proceed without it. Read more in our blog on using primer.
What brush should I use for wall paint?
Choosing the right brush ensures even application. We recommend the VP Synthetic All-Round Brush, which combines synthetic and natural bristles for a high-quality finish.
What roller should I use?
Using a quality roller helps achieve a smooth, professional finish without lint. We recommend the Toptex wall paint roller, which performed excellent in tests. Check out our blog on choosing the right roller.
More about this product
ThermoShield is water-based with a matte finish. Its ceramic filtering properties improve energy efficiency. The fine structure makes it visually similar to standard wall paints and simple to apply. Professionals can use a spray machine (airless or airmix) with minimal overspray. Theoretical coverage is 6 m² per litre. Two coats are recommended to maximise the ceramic properties. ThermoShield has its own colour range but is also available in popular options like RAL or custom blends.
