What is the Copenhagen Prof S brush used for?

The Copenhagen Prof S is a professional paintbrush made with synthetic fibres. It is not sold in hardware stores. Its exceptional professional quality and high standards set it apart from other Copenhagen brushes.

What makes the Copenhagen Prof Synthetics brush so special?

Copenhagen is proud to introduce the new Prof synthetic brush. After years of research, we have succeeded in creating the perfect handmade professional point-tipped brush with a waxed handle. The bristles are made from modernised polyester fibres (synthetic), arranged in an artificial tip that is both soft at the top and highly resilient, comparable to pig bristles. The fibres are shaped for precision work on smaller surfaces, such as window frames and edges.

Why can’t water-based varnishes be applied with a pig bristle brush?

The answer is straightforward – pig bristles are naturally oily. Oil repels water, which results in poor absorption and release of the paint. This makes pig bristle brushes unsuitable for water-based paints and varnishes, whereas the Copenhagen Prof S brush is perfect for them.

How should I store the Copenhagen Prof S brush?

For short-term storage, it’s best to wrap the brush or roller airtight with foil, a plastic bag, or a sandwich bag. This prevents air from reaching the paint and stops volatile compounds from evaporating, ensuring the paint doesn't dry out. For long-term storage, we recommend cleaning the brush and storing it in a dedicated brush holder.
