VP Platinum Ecopox Primer WA 2K
VP Platinum Ecopox Primer WA 2K is a primer designed for excellent adhesion on difficult-to-bond surfaces. This primer should be used on polished floors before finishing with either VP Platinum Ecopox or VP Topcoat.
Pros and Cons
- Highly adhesive
- Two-component formula
- Environmentally friendly
- Not suitable for outdoor use
Which brush is needed for this coating?
For applying VP Platinum Ecopox Primer WA 2K, we recommend using a disposable brush. Since the coating necessitates disposal of the brush after use, it is advisable not to use an expensive one.
Which paint roller should I use?
We recommend using a nylon roller for VP Platinum Ecopox Primer WA 2K. Nylon rollers ensure perfect layer thickness and a streak-free finish. These rollers should also be disposed of after use.
What is VP Platinum Ecopox Primer WA 2K used for?
VP Platinum Ecopox Primer WA 2K is essential for creating adhesion on challenging surfaces such as polished concrete floors. It can also be used to reinforce porous floors from within when combined with VP Platinum Impregnator.
Can VP Platinum Impregnator be painted over?
VP Platinum Impregnator can be painted over with any coating. This includes water-based coatings like VP Ecopox WA or solvent-based coatings like VP Epoxy EP. Ensure the impregnator has fully cured before applying any coating. If a solvent-based coating is applied prematurely, a reaction may occur. (This won't happen with VP Ecopox WA as it shares the same base.)
Can the coating be applied outdoors?
While VP Platinum Impregnator can be applied outdoors, it must be sealed with a topcoat for UV protection. Without a UV filter, it is not resistant to sunlight.
What is the drying time for VP Platinum Impregnator?
Drying times for two-component products can vary depending on humidity and temperature. Below is a guide based on 20°C:
- Paintable after 1 day
- Walkable after 1 day
- Dust-free in 3 hours
- Tack-free in 3 hours
Is this coating suitable for car garages?
VP Platinum Impregnator is suitable for car garages. Most garage floors are polished and should be treated with VP Platinum Impregnator for optimal adhesion. Follow up with VP Platinum Ecopox or VP Epoxy EP.
What surfaces is this coating suitable for?
VP Platinum Impregnator can be used on various surfaces, though it is not always required. Below is a breakdown:
- Rough Concrete: Not needed unless the floor is dusty. Impregnator strengthens the floor, with coverage of 4-6 m² per kg.
- Stone: Similar to rough concrete; only use if the floor is dusty.
- Cement Screed: Not necessary unless the floor is powdery.
- Levelling Compound: Usually not needed unless dealing with a powdery substrate.
- Polished Concrete: Always treat with VP Platinum Impregnator for optimal adhesion. Coverage is approximately 6 m² per litre, or 8-10 m² per kg with a floor wiper.
Can this coating be reused?
No. Once the hardener is added, the epoxy coating has a limited usability period. If left unused, it will thicken and eventually harden. Additionally, tools like rollers and brushes can only be used once.
At what temperature should it be applied?
VP Platinum Impregnator is sensitive to temperature. A higher temperature will cause it to dry too quickly, creating streaks, while colder conditions will prevent curing:
- Above 25°C: Avoid applying the coating.
- 16-22°C: Ideal temperature range.
- 12-16°C: Can be applied, but ensure curing temperatures stay above 18°C.
For lower temperatures, dilute the product with 5-10% water depending on its viscosity.
Steps for application
- [Degrease]
- [Sand]
- [Prime if necessary]
- [Apply topcoat]
