What is Avis?
AVIS has a long and rich history, founded in 1701 and named after the Avis family from the Zaan region. Although many paint brands originated here, most have since disappeared. Avis began producing linseed oil from flaxseed in 1724 at the windmill “De Koperslager,” which was destroyed by fire in 1964. By then, the production had relocated to a modern factory in Westzaan at the end of the 19th century. During the early 20th century, the brand also moved into several premises along Amsterdam’s Brouwersgracht.

What is the coverage per m²?
Avis lacquers generally offer a coverage of 12 to 14 m² per litre. However, professional painters often achieve around 10 to 12 m² per litre. It’s better to have slightly more paint than to come up short.

Which primer do I need?
