Where can I use Fibreglass Wallpaper Plus?
Fibreglass wallpaper is ideal for making walls smooth again and protecting them against fine cracks. It is widely used in newbuild projects, as fine cracks often appear after a few years. Applying fibreglass wallpaper prevents these cracks from becoming visible, keeping the wall looking flawless.
What does pre-painted or pre-treated mean?
Pre-treated or pre-painted is an expensive way of saying pigmented. This process is done at the factory, which means the fibreglass wallpaper is already saturated with a substance. The major advantage of this is that only one coat of wall paint needs to be applied instead of two.
Why should I always choose pre-treated Fibreglass Wallpaper Plus?
If fibreglass wallpaper is not pre-treated, you can often see straight through it, highlighting all wall repairs underneath. The biggest drawback, however, is that you will need to apply two coats of wall paint. Along with needing extra paint, it is very time-consuming. We often see untreated fibreglass wallpaper in DIY stores, but it usually ends up being a false economy.
What is the consumption per m2 for this product?
Estimating the consumption is always tricky; customers need to measure everything accurately themselves. We generally assume a 10-20% cutting loss. Professionals can even paste with less than 10% loss.
On which surfaces can I apply Fibreglass Wallpaper Plus?
Fibreglass Wallpaper Plus can be applied to any stone-based surface. It is essential, however, that the surface is in a wallpaper-ready state.
What gram weight do you recommend?
Fibreglass wallpaper comes in various types and qualities, and the gram weight is an important factor. Wallpaper that is too light offers less protection, and fine cracks may become visible. On the other hand, wallpaper that is too heavy can be harder to work with. Here’s our advice:
For newbuild projects with wallpaper-ready walls, 130 grams is sufficient and also the most popular weight. The advantage of 130 grams is that it is flexible and easy to apply. This weight effectively camouflages fine cracks and delivers a sleek result. Heavier fibreglass wallpaper, such as 180 or 200 grams, is recommended for projects like schools or hospitals.
Which wall paint should I use with Fibreglass Wallpaper Plus?
We always recommend using professional wall paint. With our fibreglass wallpaper, it will cover perfectly in one go. Relius R1 Pro might be the best wall paint currently available. An excellent alternative is VP Extra Matt, which also provides immediate coverage.
What glue do I need and how much?
VP Fibreglass Wallpaper is best applied with fibreglass adhesive, which pairs perfectly with the wallpaper. Our adhesive is ready to use straight from the container. You can cover approximately 50 m² with 10 litres of adhesive.
How much sealant do I need and which type?
To correctly finish Renovlies wallpaper, sealant is always required. Sealant is used for corners and along ceilings, ensuring a clean finish. First, seal the corners, then apply wall paint so the sealant gets painted over. However, sealant applied to the ceiling should not be painted over. You’ll need approximately one tube of sealant per 25 m², depending on the sealant line. We recommend using Seal-it 110 acrylic sealant, which is flexible and can easily accommodate shrinkage and expansion.
More about this product
Fibreglass Wallpaper Plus is a type of wallpaper that, when combined with the accompanying fibreglass adhesive, becomes extremely durable. This wallpaper has already been treated with wall paint, which is important for the final coverage. It strengthens the wall, and with its patterns, adds a stylish effect. The fibreglass wallpaper we offer is of professional quality and incomparable to those sold in DIY stores. Each roll is 25m long and 1m wide. After application, we suggest applying one more layer of wall paint. We strongly advise against non-pre-painted fibreglass wallpaper, as it won’t cover in one go. This will only lead to extra effort, wasted paint, and frustration. Simply use a professional product and do it right the first time! Finish the wallpaper with Renovlies Finish to save significant time and effort. Renovlies Finish is designed to work perfectly with fibreglass wallpaper and provides immediate coverage.
