Nelf Nelfapre Xcellent Universal Primer
The Nelfapre Xcellent Universal Primer is perfect for interior projects. It’s a universal acrylic-based primer, which means it is water-dilutable and odourless, making it ideal for use indoors. The Nelfapre Xcellent Universal Primer is specifically designed for difficult surfaces like metal, hard plastics, stone types, concrete, iron, and, of course, wood. For these tricky substrates, a universal primer is essential to ensure excellent adhesion.
Thanks to its fast drying time, this primer becomes recoatable in just 6 hours, allowing you to apply two coats within a day. The Nelfapre Xcellent Universal Primer is easy to clean using your usual cleaning products. The optimal working temperature is between 5°C and 20°C with a maximum humidity level of 85%.
We are an official Nelf dealer equipped with the Nelf mixing machine. Nelf was one of the first paint manufacturers in the Netherlands to use electricity in paint production. From the very beginning, Nelf has focused on professional markets. Their first products provided protective coatings for carriages, homes, shops, commercial spaces, and factories. Today, Nelf has become one of the leading paint brands for professionals.

Which brush should I use for acrylic lacquer?
Choosing the right brush is essential for applying acrylic paint and lacquer. The correct brush ensures even application with optimal absorption and release. We recommend the VP All-Round Synthetic Brush, which consists of high-quality synthetic fibres for achieving the best results.
Which paint roller should I use?
To achieve a smooth and even finish, a suitable roller is critical. Nobody wants to pick lint out of their paintwork. Absorption and release are crucial. For working with acrylic paint or lacquer, we recommend the VP Superflock Acrylic Roller.
When should I use it?
The Nelfapre Xcellent Universal Primer is ideal for protecting all woodwork and difficult surfaces. By using a primer, you ensure better adhesion between the substrate and the lacquer, which greatly enhances the end result. Nelfapre Xcellent Universal Primer is easy to work with, making it suitable for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts.
Advantages of water-based lacquer
Acrylic lacquer is the ideal choice for indoor projects. It doesn’t emit unpleasant odours during application, and since it doesn’t contain turpentine, your colours won’t yellow over time.
What is the coverage per m²?
The typical coverage of Nelf paints is 12 to 14 m² per litre. However, our experience shows that most painters achieve around 10 to 12 m² per litre. It's better to have extra paint than to run out partway through your project.
Which colours can be mixed?
We can mix any colour you desire using our advanced mixing system. Simply choose your preferred colour through our colour selector or contact us for assistance. For mixing Nelf paints and lacquers, we use only official machinery and high-quality pigments.

Which gloss level do you recommend?
No gloss level applies to primers, but we can recommend gloss levels for lacquers:
High gloss (60–90): Ideal for outdoor projects. It offers a smooth finish, making surfaces less prone to dirt accumulation and easier to clean.
Satin gloss (30–60): Great for uneven surfaces. It’s a popular choice for DIY projects as it hides imperfections better.
Matte paint (less than 30): Best for indoor use, offering a natural and subtle finish.
Which lacquer should I use?
For the best results, we recommend pairing this primer with lacquer from the same brand to ensure maximum compatibility. Choose from the following finishes:
(Matte) Nelfalite Xcellent Matte
(Satin gloss) Nelfalite Xcellent Resist Satin
(High gloss) Nelfalite Xcellent Gloss
