Drenth DPU Lacquer
Drenth DPU Lacquer is a transparent lacquer based on solvent. This product is available in matte, satin, and high-gloss finishes. However, the matte and satin versions are not suitable for outdoor use. If you want to use DPU lacquer outdoors, opt for the high-gloss finish. Drenth DPU is ideal for use on floors, doors, and tables. The lacquer provides perfect protection for all these surfaces. We can easily mix this transparent lacquer in any translucent colour, allowing you to give your surface a fresh and attractive colour. Applying multiple layers will enhance the protective qualities of the product. If you’re looking for a transparent lacquer that offers superior protection, Drenth DPU Lacquer is the perfect choice.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Product
Which brush should I use?
When applying solvent-based paints and lacquers, it is crucial to use the right brush. The right brush ensures even application and distribution of the lacquer. It also optimises paint uptake and release, resulting in a smooth finish. We recommend the VP Gold Mix Brush, which features traditional hog bristles combined with specially selected synthetic fibres for the best results.
What paint roller should I use?
The right roller is essential for achieving a smooth and even finish. With a quality roller, you won't have to worry about lint getting into your paintwork. Paint uptake and release are crucial features of a good roller. We recommend using a VP Nylon Roller, which provides all the characteristics needed for working with this product.
When should I use it?
This transparent lacquer offers superior protection across various surfaces. Drenth DPU Lacquer is particularly suited for use on floors, tables, and doors.
What are the benefits of solvent-based lacquer?
For outdoor applications, solvent-based lacquers (alkyd lacquer) are ideal. They are more resistant to weather conditions, resulting in a longer lifespan compared to water-based products. While solvent-based lacquer may yellow when used indoors, selecting a lacquer with an 'anti-yellowing formula' can help prevent this, making it suitable for interior use.
What is the coverage per square metre?
The coverage for this lacquer is approximately 10 to 12 m2 per litre under ideal conditions, such as 20 degrees Celsius and 65% humidity.
What about surface preparation?
Before starting your project, we advise cleaning the surface thoroughly with a cleaner like St Marc Degreaser. This applies to all surfaces, whether it's concrete, wood, stone, or wallpaper. Preparing the surface ensures optimal adhesion of the lacquer.
Do I need a primer?
The answer is no. This lacquer can be applied directly to bare wood without the need for a primer.
Are there alternatives?
Drenth DPU Aqua Parquet Lacquer is an alternative that also provides excellent wear and scratch resistance. The key difference between the two is that DPU Lacquer is solvent-based, while DPU Aqua is acrylic-based.
