What is Relius Premium Allgrund used for?
Relius Premium Allgrund is suitable for protecting all outdoor woodwork, such as doors and frames. This primer enhances adhesion between the substrate and your topcoat. Using a primer ensures a longer-lasting result and a cleaner finish. Relius Premium Allgrund is an easy-to-apply product for both professionals and DIY users.
Why should I choose solvent-based lacquer?
For outdoor work, alkyd lacquer is the ideal product. This paint resists weather conditions better, providing a longer lifespan compared to water-based alternatives. Generally, solvent-based alkyd paint will yellow indoors. If you wish to use it indoors, make sure it is labelled as “non-yellowing in dark areas” to avoid discolouration.
What is the coverage per square metre of this product?
The coverage of primers is 12 to 16 m² per litre. However, our experience is slightly different, as most painters achieve a coverage of 10 to 12 m² per litre with Relius Premium Allgrund. It is better to have a bit more paint than not enough.
Which brush should I use for an alkyd primer?
To apply alkyd paint and lacquer, choosing the right brush is crucial. A good brush allows for even application with optimal absorption and release. We believe the VP Platinum Mixed Fibre contains the right fibres for the best finish. This brush is made of a combination of traditional pig bristles and selected synthetic fibres.
What paint roller should I use?
A roller helps create a smooth and even finish. You certainly don’t want to be picking fluff out of your paintwork. Paint absorption and release are essential. We recommend using the Copenhagen or Anza felt roller when working with alkyd lacquer or paint.
Are there alternatives to this product?
Sikkens Rubbol Primer Express: This is a similar solvent-based primer. It is an express primer from Sikkens, which can be applied at temperatures as low as “0” degrees Celsius, making it ideal for cold winter months.
